He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Potton and Martha Potton (Roberts); and his brother Dale Potton. He is survived by: his wife Linda; his children, Cynthia Kuenzi (Scott) of Madison, Stephanie Brown of River Falls, Howard Potton (Katie) of Anchorage and Sarah Graff (Andrew) of Chicago; his siblings, William Potton (Thelma) of Detroit and Ruth Ann Clark (Dan) of Neillsville; and his grandchildren, Ashley (Megan Brown), Glen, Reid (Tess Kuenzi), Nicholas (Danielle Potton) and Abbie (Sylvie Graff).
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Ezekiel Lutheran Church.
