She was loved and cherished by many people including: her mother Ruth Hughes (Scheid); her husband Aldy Stephens; her son-in-law Randy Merkt; her father John Edward Hughes; her siblings, Mary Buchholz (Edwin), Lillian Long (Glenn), Victor Hughes, Alice Anderson (Harvey), John "Sonny" Hughes, Helen Hollerung (Jack), Erna Jacobsen (Roy), Charles "Chuck" Hughes and Phyllis Sandmann (Jake); her in-laws, Alexander Joseph, Mabel Stephens, John Stephens, Thomas "Don" Stephens (Bette), Ed Stephens, Jim Stephens (Helen), Curt Waalen and Sharon Hughes; her pet Donuts; her children, June Merkt, Julie Harer (Dwayne), Jill Steel, Janice Watters (Roger), Jackie Warner (Paul) and Aldy Jo Stephens; her grandchildren, Brian Merkt, Brent Merkt, Brad Merkt, Brandon Merkt, Joey Harer (Angela), Justin Harer (Amy), Jacy Przekurat (Josh), Jenna Harer-Nechodom (Jesse), Jake Harer, Jennifer Willett (Joe), Nicole Oman (Andy), Tristan Steel, Alanna Warner-Smith (Louis), Jocque Warner, Logan Warner and Kiarra Warner; her brother David Hughes (Jill); her sisters-in-law, Jacie Hughes, Mona Stephens, Darlene Stephens and Mabel Waalen (Stephens); and her great great grandchildren, David Steel and Jeanne Aschittino. She was also cherished by her children, nieces, and nephews.
June spent the final years of her life living with Alzheimer's. While a resident in memory care, she offered advice to those around her and continued to "yoo-hoo!".
