He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Frederick Gilbertson and Clara Gilbertson (Haberstitch); his wife Donna; his sons, Barry Gilbertson (Angela) of Beldenville and Brian Gilbertson (Sandra) of Beldenville; his grandchildren, Michelle Engel (Joseph), Patrick Gilbertson (Elizabeth), Cassandra McRoberts (William), James Gilbertson, Josephine Gilbertson and Kyle Gilbertson; his great grandchildren, John, Lincoln, Autumn and Aubrey; his sisters, Marlys Kroeze of Jefferson, WI and Marge Johnson of Pine City; his sister-in-law Audrey Gilbertson of Ellsworth; his brothers, Roger Gilbertson (Donna) and Donald Gilbertson; and his brother-in-law Curt Kroeze.
