He was predeceased by: his parents, Leon Gitzel and Lillian Gitzel (Foster); and his sister-in-law Jennifer Gitzel. He is survived by: his wife Susan Gitzel of Ripon; his siblings, David Gitzel of Ripon, WI and Diane Fiddler (James) of Albuquerque, NM; his godchildren, Ryan Van Scyoc (Katie) and Rebekah Lehman (Jonathan); and also, Ryker, Josiah, Aubryn, Jon and Adalyn. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
