Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved James Thomas Shepherd of Rhinelander, Wisconsin, who passed away at the age of 89, on August 31, 2024. In the vast expanse of eternity, James shall find rest, cradled in the arms of everlasting peace. And as we bid James farewell, his loved ones carry with them the precious gift of his memory, a beacon of hope guiding them through the shadows of sorrow towards the light of a new dawn.

He was predeceased by: his parents, William R. Shepherd and Cecelia Shepherd (Sackett); and his son Patrick Shepherd. He is survived by: his wife Audrey G. Nance; and his children, Mike Shepherd of Janesville, WI, Jean Allen (Jim) of Zephyrhills, Steve Shepherd of Rhinelander, Debbie Shepherd of Rhinelander, Bill Shepherd (Laurie) of Deerbrook, WI and Carol Peterson of Minneapolis, MN. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

“It was with a sad heart I saw Debbie's posting on Facebook this morning. I couldn't believe that my last cousin had left this earth. Over the years, we have corresponded every Christmas. The last few years he has called me sometime in December because he had a hard time writing. We always spent nearly an hour catching up on our year. I shall miss that this year, and I know Audrey and his whole family will miss him even more. I am truly sorry for your loss. Betty Lundgren Oliver”
