He was predeceased by: his granddaughter Makenzee Carpenter; and his brother Larry Carpenter. He is survived by: his wife Jean Steinhorst; his children, Nikki Carpenter and BJ Carpenter (Teema); his grandchildren, Tailyr, Ryder Carpenter and Tatyanna Bronk; his sister Joan Carpenter Knowlton; and also, Jeff Steinhorst (Tammy), Tom Steinhorst (Jeannie), Jim Steinhorst, Betty Hooker, Jerry Rufenacht (Nancy), William Schanke (Jessica), Rob Schanke (Dawn) and Becky Newkirk (Steve).
