He was predeceased by: his parents, Harvey Alsum and Elizabeth Alsum (Huizenga); his brothers, Gerald Alsum (Jen), Bernie Alsum (Gladys), Don Alsum and Ken Alsum (Myrna); and his siblings-in-law, Tena Dykstra (Bill), Agnes Westra (Ed), Caroline Heeringa (Norman), Eleanor Hoffman, Jake Hoffman (Margie), John Hoffman (Evelyn), Carl Hoffman (Muriel) and Melvin Hoffman (Alice).
He is survived by: his wife Joann Alsum; his children, Loretta Douma (Terry) of Waupun, Dale Alsum (Janene) of Trego, WI, Denise Alsum of Oakdale, MN and Diane Krommendyk (Rob) of Orange City, IA; his grandchildren, Joshua Douma (Amanda), Justin Marvin Douma, Lucas Douma, Elizabeth Glick, Sophie Alsum, Noah Krommendyk, Chloe Krommendyk and Isaac William Krommendyk; his great grandchildren, Gabriel Douma, Adaline Douma, Alaina Glick, Abigail Glick and Olivia Glick; his siblings, Doreen Hengeveld (Nick) and Norm Alsum (Ruth); and his siblings-in-law, Cora Hemp (Brian) and Ron Hoffman (Harriet). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
