He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer and Gloria; his brother Tom Thornton; his parents-in-law, Marylin Heegeman and William Hellesen; his stepmother-in-law Helene Hellesen; and his pet Oreo.
He is survived by: his wife Kathy Hellesen; his stepdaughters, Valerie Sanchez (Ryne) and LeAnn Lopez; his stepgranddaughter Winter Sanchez; his siblings, Sue Williams (Bob), Jacci Young (Ed) and Mark Thornton (Edie); and his siblings-in-law, Karen Jacob, Lori Branthoover and Timothy Hellesen (Gail). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held on Saturday, December 21st 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Bethania Lutheran Church (4120 Wright Ave, Racine, WI 53405). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, December 21st 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
