He was predeceased by: his parents, John Check and Amelia Check (Berntgen); and his siblings, Thelma Zimmer (Ed), Helen Evert (Wallace "Wally"), Esther Hamann (Harold "Brownie"), Dorothy Zimmerman (Eldon), Robert "Bob" Check (Janice) and Mildred Zimmerman (Leo).
He is survived by: his wife Patricia; his children, Randy Check (Michele) of Prairie du Chien, Emily McBee (Joe) of Fennimore and Kevin Check (Tricia) of Waunakee; his brother William "Bill" Check (Wanda); and his grandchildren, Clair Jelinek (Christopher), Rachel Schmitz (Brandon), Derek McBee (Ashley), Rebecca Dean (Donnie), Maggie and Jack Check. He is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren.
