He was predeceased by: his parents, Daniel Engel and Helen Brey Engel; his sister May Hannemann (Duane); his niece Beverly Hannemann Tusler; his father-in-law John Nelsen (Joyce); and his brothers-in-law, Dudley Andersen, Butch Rodencal, John Nelsen II and Leroy Kettlewell.
He is survived by: his wife Roxane Nelsen; his children, John Engel (Jennifer), Lyn Stewart (Scott), Laura Engel and Jill Engel; his grandchildren, Andrew Engel, Rhiannon Elendt (Jacob), Timothy Elendt (Maddie) and Natalie Engel (Brodey); his great grandchildren, Adrianna Braley-Engel, Dominic Engel, Lainey Kirchharr and Raegan Elendt; his siblings, Virginia Andersen (Ron), Diane Rodencal, Gordon Engel (Jane) and Jim Engel; and his in-laws, Rochel Nelsen (Lenny), Aron Nelsen and Renee Nelsen. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
