He was predeceased by: his parents, Martin John and Mildred Placko (Chromcik); and his brother Robert John Placko. He is survived by: his children, Robyn McGuire (Ryan Lewandowski) of Platteville, WI and Andrew Placko of Platteville, WI; his grandchildren, Padraic and Maddox McGuire; his close friend Lisa Scholl of Potosi, WI; his nephew Michael Placko (Keriann); his nieces, Wendy Krein-Placko (Kevin) and Amy Dills (Peter); and also, Ronnie Scholl (Kaitlyn), Kyle Scholl (Kournei), Luke Scholl and Logan Scholl.
In lieu of plants & flowers a Martin J. "Jim" Placko Memorial Fund has been established.
