He was predeceased by: his parents, Dallas Johnson and Margueriete Johnson (Nitz); his stepfather Joseph Harmon; his sister Marlene Poppie; and his brother-in-law James Poppie, Sr..

He is survived by: his wife Beverly; his daughters, Sharon Maratik (John), Edgerton, Sandra Bolgrihn (Christopher), Sun Prairie, Susan Wenker (Michael) and Stoughton; his grandchildren, Kaitlyn Maratik, Tyler Maratik, Alexandria Bolgrihn, Jacob Bolgrihn, Dylan Wenker and Danielle Wenker; and his aunt Larryne Crawford of Portage. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
