He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Kierna and Augusta Kierna (Muehlfelder); his son James; his brothers, Gene and Robert; his mother-in-law Walter Goepfert; and also Barbara Goepfert.
He is survived by: his wife Laurie Kierna of Prairie; his children, Thomas Kierna (Faith), Patty Schaefges (Frank), Brian Kierna (Nancy), Rae Ann Mitchell and Karen Kierna; his sister Christine Walsh; his brothers-in-law, Carl Goepfert (Lana) and Wally Goepfert (Kay); and also Sac. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren.
