He was predeceased by: his parents, Jacob Hemler and Paula Hemler; his wife Minnie; and his grandson Richard Warren. He is survived by: his children, Maria Ward (Kevin) of Baraboo, Evonne Warren (Robert) of Portage and Richard Hemler (Suzanne) of Endeavor; and his grandsons, Jerald Ward, Stephen Ward and Robert Warren.

Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church of Portage.
