We are sad to announce that on September 14, 2019, at the age of 94, Merlin J. Shanks (Portage, Wisconsin) passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Shanks and Helen Shanks (Messer); and his brothers, Leon, William and John Shanks (Genevieve).
He is survived by: his wife Eunice Shanks; his children, Steven Shanks (Kimberly), Kathleen Statz (William), Mary Naylor (Daniel), Kenneth Shanks (Joan) and Robert Shanks (Kathy); his grandchildren, Jeremy Shanks, Stephanie Shanks (Ike Lanman), Jennifer Oestreich (Brian), Michele Statz (Bijan Warner), Joseph Naylor (Tasha), Laura Colbert (Garrett), Andrew Naylor (Ann), Stuart Shanks (Opeyemi Daramola), Douglas Shanks (Miranda), Martin Shanks (Michelle), Miranda Shanks and Ian Shanks; and his sister-in-law Virginia Shanks. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church or Shanks Cemetery Association.
