She was predeceased by: her parents, Walter Steinhorst and Elsie Steinhorst (Willey); and her siblings, Delores Higbee (Russell), Lorna Wieglow (Leo), Russell Steinhorst (Shirley) and Audrey Doll.
She is survived by: her husband Merlin; her children, Steven Shanks (Kimberly), Kathleen Statz (William), Mary Naylor (Daniel), Kenneth Shanks (Joan) and Robert Shanks (Kathy); her grandchildren, Jeremy Shanks, Stephanie (Ike), Jennifer Oestreich (Brian), Michele (Bijan), Joseph Naylor (Tasha), Laura Colbert (Garrett), Andrew Naylor (Ann), Stuart (Opeyemi), Douglas Shanks (Miranda), Martin Shanks (Michelle), Miranda Shanks and Ian Shanks; her siblings, Ronald Steinhorst and Marlene Enstad (Burt); and her sister-in-law Virginia Shanks. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church or Caledonia Circle Homemakers Club.
