He was predeceased by: his parents, LeRoy Birkholz and Edna Birkholz; his wife Carol Brabender of Mary's Catholic Church; his brothers, Terry and Hal Birkholz; and his nephew Shaun Cobbledick.

He is survived by: his sister-in-law Karen Lavora (James); his nieces, Shelly Hartmann (Roy) of Fredonia and Katie Bares (Jake) of Belgium; and his nephew Kyle Cobbledick of Sheboygan.
