He is survived by: his wife Shirley; his son John, Jr. Deterling (Brenda); his daughter-in-law Jeaneth Deterling of Duluth, MN; his grandchildren, Brianna, Ian and Benjamin Deterling; his great grandchildren, Nikole, Kaiden and Melody; and his sisters, Rae Jackson (Jerry) of Iron River, WI, Mary Nelson (Dave) of LaCrosse, WI and Judy Klein (Bob) of Mooresville, NC. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
