She was predeceased by: her parents, Vernon Maier and Gladys Maier (Smith); her husband Robert P. Steffen; her sons, David "Bugem" and Thomas "TJ" Steffen; her grandsons, Kalvin Benicke and Dylan Steffen; her sister Lorraine Knoll (Clifford "Bubby"); and her brothers-in-law, Phillip Steffen (Ruth) and John Steffen (Regina).
She is survived by: her children, Phyllis (Steffen), Lawrence Steffen (Bob Clark), Janice Sauer (Les), Mary Alice Steffen, Timothy Steffen (Mary) and Patti Benicke (Todd); her grandchildren, Renee Wolf, Megan Anhalt (Brian), Barb Feiereisen, Jenn Feiereisen (Krista), Angela Dorzak (John), Haley Peterson (Jeff), Linda Mashaghetti Bartels (Ronin), Devon Lee (Lynn), Cassie Ditkof (John), Gabrielle Steffen (Nick Borchardt), Lauren Bagneski, Stephanie, Nathaniel (Emma Parins) and Elizabeth Benicke; her great grandchildren, Hannah Anhalt, Tristen Dorzak, Zack Wheelock, Jack, Henry, Violet Peterson, Ethan, Masen, Sophie D'Amato, Mila and Ezra Ditkof; and her great great grandchildren, Paisley, Addliee and Emberlyn Dorzak. She is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Bernie's name.
