He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Boland, and Margaret "Peg" Boland, Sr.. He is survived by: his wife Kay Boland; his children, Karen Foulke (Rick), Bruce Boland, Joseph "Joby" Boland III and Michael "Mike" Boland; his grandchildren, Zachary "Zack" Lisien, Madeline "Maddy" Wilson (Ben), Reagan Boland, Georgia Boland and Maxwell "Max" Boland; his great grandchildren, Audrey, Juniper Lee and Birdie Mae; and his sister Margaret "Meg" Boland (Michael Einisman). He is also survived by other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Joe's honor can be given to the Pewaukee Lake Sailing School, Milwaukee Community Sailing Center, or the Carmelite Monastery.
