He was predeceased by: his wife Doreen Griepentrog; his granddaughter Mireille Griepentrog; his parents, Alfred Griepentrog and Malinda Griepentrog; his siblings, Martin, Vernon Griepentrog (Oscar), Janet Griepentrog, Lorraine Fischer (Alvin) and Evelyn Barbey (Charles); and his siblings-in-law, Althea Barrick, Charles Barbey and Alvin Fischer.

He is survived by: his son Rob Griepentrog (Ruth).

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that gifts be given to St. John's Lutheran Ministries.
