He was predeceased by: his parents, Benjamin Gruberg and Mollie Gruberg; and his brother Stanley Gruberg. He is survived by: his former wife Rosaline Kurfirst; his friend Ruth Bader Ginsburg; his former spouse Humaira Sayeed; his children, Shabab Iftekhar Gruberg and Sharita Mollie Gruberg; his wife Dr. Vivian Foss; his daughter-in-law Shannon Sharp Gruberg; and his grandchildren, Aman and Arif Gruberg.
In lieu of flowers, Dr. Gruberg's family requests donations to his favorite organizations, the ACLU of Wisconsin, NAACP Legal Defense Fund, and the New York Metropolitan Opera.
