As we bid John Roy farewell, let us not mourn the absence of his physical form, but rather celebrate the essence of his spirit that lingers in the spaces between moments. For John Roy is not truly gone, but merely transformed, his energy intertwined with the fabric of the universe itself, forever dancing among the stars.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester Burr and Dorothy Burr (Hoffman). He is survived by: his wife Marjorie Burr; his children, Michael Burr (Kimberly Nowak-Burr), Christopher Burr (Nicole Daggett) and Kara Burr; his granddaughter Ava Sophia Burr; and his sister Charlotte Burr.
Visitation was held on Friday, April 11th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Eastside (402 Waugoo Ave, Oshkosh, WI 54901). A memorial service was held on Friday, April 11th 2025 at 5:00 PM at the same location.
John made significant contributions to the philosophy department, being appointed as Chairman from 1966-1976 and again in 2000, and co-editing the journal "Philosophy and Contemporary Issues" for over thirty years.
