He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Helmer and Fern Helmer (Thornton); his siblings, Ellwyn Helmer, Robert Helmer, DuWayne Helmer, David Helmer, Joann Grainger and Judith Clem; his nephews, Richard Newton and James Helmer; and his niece Patricia Berndt.
He is survived by: his wife Virginia Wojdac of Oshkosh; his children, Eric Helmer of Alexis, NC, Michelle Olson (Jeff) of Fond du Lac, Adam Helmer (Julia) of Brantwood and Katie Arnett (Dale) of Georgetown, KY.; his stepsons, Robert Rucinski (Stephanie) and Mark Rucinski; his siblings, Charlotte Zielieke (Jeffery) of Campbellsport and Norman Helmer (Anne) of Fond du Lac; his grandchildren, Chase Hagen (Ally), Seth Hagen, Trevor Olson, Anika Olson, Erika Olson, Calvin Helmer, Zachary Helmer, Dexter Helmer, Brian Rucinski and Daniel Rucinski; and his great grandchildren, Jax, Cal Hagen, Zander and Luna Cratchy. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
