He was predeceased by: his parents, Cornelius John and Lucille Faye Partney Boyer; his former wife Bonnie Sue Glaze; his son David Neal II; his wife Mary Patricia Aten; his siblings, Nyla Reece (Thomas), Shirley Nadine Bullis (Edwin) and Robert Barry Boyer (Bonnie Glee); and his great grandchildren, Isaac Lee Gonzalez and Amelia Rose Bryant.
He is survived by: his children, Desiree Michelle, Rev. Mark Christopher Boyer (Constance), Bonnie Suzanne Boyer, Therese Asmus (Todd) and John Neal Boyer. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
