He is survived by: his mothers-in-law, Ann Hughes and Mary "Gerry" Markwardt (Murray); his wife Gerry; his children, John E. Markwardt, William Markwardt (Kim), Scott Nyberg, Stephen Markwardt, David Markwardt, Kathryn Cale (Richard), Donald Nyberg (Denise) and Thomas Markwardt (Theresa); and his siblings, Frances Markwardt, Edgar Markwardt, Robert Markwardt, Virginia Laughrin and Carolyn Hogden. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
