He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Schmidt and Loretta Schmidt (Ashauer); and his brothers, Mark, Earl and Alan Schmidt.
He is survived by: his fiancée Jill; his children, Randi Taft (Joe Arnold), Dalton Shimko (Shelby), Christian Brocker (Breanne) and Heather Brocker (Lee); his grandchildren, Payton Brocker, Miles Brocker, Finnley K. Diedrick, Mack Neil Arnold and Hayden Parker; his daughter Cathleen Diedrick; his siblings, Ruth Lemke, Joan Woldt (Steve), Paul Schmidt (Debra) and Rose Heegman; his godson Clint Woldt (Andrea); and also Carter.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
