He was predeceased by: his parents, Sheldon Smith and Irene Smith (Elm); his son Wayne Smith; his stepchildren, Franklin Nicholas and Linda Nicholas; and his sisters, Geraldine Parker (Russel) and Lavon Smith.

He is survived by: his wife Carol Cornelius; his sons, Blake Smith (CJ) and Kent Smith (Marie); his stepgranddaughter Misty Dawn; his great grandchildren, Vanessa and Leo; and his pet Bingo.
