He was predeceased by: his parents, Douglas Schindler and Dolores Schindler (Guggenbuehl); and his former wife Lisa. He is survived by: his wife Karen Kellermann; his brothers, Michael Schindler (Luanne) and Patrick Schindler (Donna); his siblings-in-law, Allan Kellermann, Annette Stender (John) and Norwood; and his pet Rocky. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Coulee Region Humane Society or Catholic Charities of the Diocese of La Crosse.
