He was predeceased by: his parents, Matthew Merfeld and Clara Merfeld (Strasser); his sisters, Molly Robertson, Lorraine Severson and Delores Pederson; his son-in-law Rick Glanzman; and his siblings-in-law, Elaine Greene, Don Greene, Jim Squier, Harold "Turtle" Tanke, Jerry Severson, Carrol "Pete" Pederson, Clayton Lambert and Gene Delagrave.
He is survived by: his wife Marlene Greene; his children, Kris Glanzman of Cape Coral, FL., Cindy Merfeld of Onalaska and Richard Scott Merfeld of Sparta; his grandson Dr. Matthew Merfeld (Ann); his great grandchildren, Ashley and Rachel; his siblings, Jeannette Delagrave, Joan Faas (Ron), Patti Grathen (Dick), Carol Tanke, Sue Molledahl (Dave) and Mike Merfeld (Cheryl); and his sisters-in-law, Joanne Greene and Myrna Swanson (Terry). He is also survived by nephews and nieces.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given Aptive (disability services), 3000 South Avenue, La Crosse.
