He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Barney and Nona Barney (Stanton); his parents-in-law, Norm and Bernice Kohlmeyer; his sons, Peter and Paul Barney; his brothers-in-law, Tim Viner, Allyn Kohlmeyer and Richard "Dick" Wolfe; and his nephew James "Jim" Barney.
He is survived by: his wife Darla Kohlmeyer; his son Benjamin (Jennifer); his grandchildren, Bennett and Delana Barney of Onalaska; his daughter Kendra (Zachary Norris); his grandchildren, Bailey Post (Kevin), Emma, Joshua, Caleb Norris of Fond, Lac and Wis; his siblings, Dr. Donald "Pete" Barney (Theresa) and Rita Wolfe; his sister-in-law Carmen Viner; and his nieces and nephews, Jeff, Kathy, John, Don (Heidi), Jason Barney (Jill), Jenny Kime (Chad), Colleen Stender (Art), Rich Wolfe (Jenny), Steve Wolfe (Deb), Hunter Viner, Christina Hollister and Matthew Kohlmeyer.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Gundersen Hospice, St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church or Luther High School.
