He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Metzig and Verna Metzig; his brothers-in-law, Gary Pakalski, Terry Smith and Sturge Taggart; his nephews, Glennie and JohnTaggart; and his great-nephew Jason Taggart.

He is survived by: his sons, Tyler and Jordan; his daughter-in-law Brittney; his wife Jeri Smith of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.; his brother Fred (Vicki); his niece Meghan; his sister Mary Pakalski; his sister-in-law Judie Taggart; his nephews, Dave Moe (Becky) and Sturge Taggart (Barb); his niece Alison Routt (Mark); his sister-in-law Mary Smith; his nephew Tim (Kristen); his niece Lindsay (Mike); and his brother-in-law Tim Smith (Joan). He is also survived by many great-nieces and nephews, treasured cousins and special friends.

“Hello Jean, I know that this is quite late in reaching you after Gary went heaven over a year ago. I just heard about his passing. I am a close friend of his. He and I were roommates at DMLC our freshman year. I saw Gary last at the FVL class reunion in 2015. My wife, Kim was a classmate of Gary's. He and his good friend from FVL, Karen Armitage, were planning to introduce me to Kim. Her maiden name was Kromer. If you have Gary's 75 yearbook you will find all of them. Sending part 2”
