He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester Smith and Juanita Smith; his son Steven Smith; his granddaughter April Leitner-Salek; his parents-in-law, Clara King and Kenneth Bjorge; his siblings, Stanly Smith, Lois Faas, Donnie Smith, Ronnie Smith, Gilbert Smith and Melvin Smith; his nephew Mark Kelly; and his brothers-in-law, Kurt Bjorge, Jim Bjorge, Dan Olaff and Roy Goldbeck.
He is survived by: his wife Karen Smith of Onalaska; his siblings, Harold Smith (Judy) of Onalaska, David Smith (Mary) of Onalaska, Anita Goldbeck of Rockland and Gloria Kelly (Donald) of Onalaska; his siblings-in-law, Phyllis Smith of LaCrosse, Joyce Olaff of LaCrosse and Bill Faas of Onalaska; and his children, Scott Smith of Oconomowoc, Kim DeWall (Danny Pierce) of Sparta, Craig Ross (Kristal) of Holmen, Karla Gaines (Bill) of LaCrosse, Ernest Smith Jr. of Wisconsin Rapids, Dianna Revolinski (Damon) of Onalaska, Michael Smith (Penny) of LaCrosse and Tamara Bush (Andy) of Bakersfield. He is also survived by his 29 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews and many friends.
