He is survived by: his wife Dianna Zimmerman; his children, Bryan Ekern, Darrin Ekern (Kristi), Brenda Smith (Jeff) and Loren Ekern; his grandchildren, Dylan Ekern (Janeen), Logan Ekern, Lexi Ekern, Phillip Smith and Zachary Smith; his brother Joe Ekern (Nancy); his sister-in-law Barb Zimmerman; and his nieces, Whitney, Waynette (Dave) and Emily (Jim).
