He was predeceased by: his parents, Anton Thompson and Blanche Thompson (Anderson); his siblings, Faye Gesell, Sharon Tiegen and Rodney Thompson; and his sister-in-law Patricia Thompson.
He is survived by: his wife Geraldine Lee; his children, Bryan Thompson (Cindy) and Laura Tranberg (Steve); his grandchildren, Matt Thompson and Amanda Tranberg; his siblings, Allen Thompson, John Thompson (Brenda) and Nancy Schoofs (Jerry); and his siblings-in-law, William Gesell and Ruth Thompson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to the Gundersen Hospice staff.
