He was predeceased by: his parents, John Zernzach and Violet Zernzach (Witt); his wife Anne K Haanen of Green Bay; his son Matthew James Zernzach; and his siblings, Douglas Zernzach, Lois Gaines and Patricia Boyd.

He is survived by: his children, Dr. Randall and Christine Zernzach; his grandchildren, Tess (Ben) and Kate of Anchorage, Alaska; his children, Frances and Daniel McCarthy; his grandchildren, Jake, Parker and Noa; his children, Grace (Brian), Claire of Aurora, Illinois, Margaret and Robert Perich; his grandchildren, Leo and Madeleine of Phoenix, Arizona; his children, Peter and Angie Zernzach; his grandchildren, Zoey and Addy of Omro; and his siblings, Gloria Farr (Hank), Virginia, Victoria (Grant), Violet Metz of Maryland and John Zernzach of Park Falls, WI. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
