He was predeceased by: his parents, George Nelis and Catherine Nelis (Plucinski); his wife Mattie Sue; his brothers, Donald Nelis Sr., John Nelis and Samuel Denomie; his nephew Dakota Denomie; and his close friend Rita Lucius.
He is survived by: his daughter Tia Nelis; his nieces and nephews, Donnie Nelis Jr. (LeeAnn Rosin), Tammy, Randy Meyer and Tekoa Denomie; his aunt Ethel Plucinski; and his friend Ken Boulley. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
