He was predeceased by: his father Bernard "Henry" Smet; his grandchildren, Lisa Klatkiewicz, Pamela Lassanske and Wayne Smet; his children-in-law, Ralph Liegeois and Bonnie Smet; and his father Felix Abano.
He is survived by: his wife Betty; his children, Michael Smet, Danny Smet (Paula), Peter Smet (Debbie), Suzan Klatkiewicz (David), Sharon Liegeois, Bill Smet (Bobbie), Chuck Smet (Debbie), Kathy "Toots" Smet and Melody Heinke (Jon); his sister Marie Hansen; and his sister-in-law Lillian Konitzer. He is also survived by 37 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild.
