He was predeceased by: his brothers, Donald Counsell and James Counsell; his father-in-law Carl Postulart; and his parents, Donald Counsell (Huck) and Violet Counsell.

He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth (Elly); his children, Amanda (Tony), Ashley (Chris) and Riley; his brothers, Al Counsell (Gloria), Jerry Counsell (Marsha), Stephen Counsell (Cyndi) and Timothy Counsell (Sue); his sister-in-law Sue Counsell; and his mother-in-law Kitty Postulart. He is also survived by (Oma), & many nieces, nephews & dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family are appreciated.
