He was predeceased by: his father Robert Hanson; and his brother Eric Hanson. He is survived by: his mother Joanne Hanson; his wife Andrea; his children, Michael Hanson, Rebecca Hanson, Miranda Castaneda (Robert), Paige Kirk (Michael) and Evan Boas; his grandchildren, Carter Castaneda, Thomas Castaneda and Harper Kirk; and his siblings, Michelle Luker, Leslie Harris (Marc), Jeff Hanson (Dianne) and Lisa Olson. He is also survived by his wife, children, and grandchildren.
