Harold J. Mlsna Obituary
Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, April 4, 2025 at the age of 93. Loving father of Jean (Roger) Kniess, John (Lisa) Mlsna, Kathryn Mlsna (Sheri Hosek), and Mary (John) Raven; grandfather of Kelly (Mike) Hagan, Kaja Zebrowski, Jason Sevenz, Wesley Zebrowski, Nick Sevenz, and Louisa Zebrowski; great grandfather of Evelyn and Jase Hagen. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Evelyn L. (née Johnson).
As a young man, Harold joined the Air Force and proudly served his country during the Korean War. Upon returning from service, he attended college and ultimately earned his Master's degree courtesy of the GI Bill. Harold, a handsome and social fellow by nature, married the beautiful Evelyn Johnson in 1958. He was devoted to his family and provided for them by teaching mathematics, computer science, and driver's education at St. John's Military Academy in Delafield. Not one to be idle, he spent his summers working construction and later managing SJMA's golf course which his kids loved to bike to for a soda and candy bar on Dad. He was also devoted to St. Jerome's Catholic Church, serving in various roles, most notably as an usher for more than four decades. He was also active in the Knights of Columbus, Oconomowoc Senior Center, and Habitat for Humanity. His interests included the Old West, sudoku puzzles, classical music, tracking investments, reading, and tending his vegetable and flower gardens. He had a remarkable green thumb which he used to cultivate amazing dahlias, tuberous begonias, and lilies. He inherited a love of cards and played cribbage, euchre, pinochle, hearts, and sheepshead. But most of all, he enjoyed poker. Just days prior to his death, he took great pleasure in lightening the pockets of his family members by 60 nickels.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 AM until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:50 AM on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 995 Silver Lake St, Oconomowoc. Burial to follow at St. Jerome Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Alzheimer's Association are appreciated.
The family would like to thank the staff from The View at Pine Ridge for their loving care.
