Gene Schaal Obituary
Gene (Geno) Aubrey Schaal, aged 86, of Oconomowoc, WI went home to the Lord on October 29, 2024. Born October 28, 1938, in Woodward, ND, he was the cherished son of Henry and Alma Schaal.
Gene was a proud father, a skilled craftsman, a generous friend and he loved to have a good time. He enjoyed food, car shows, tractor shows, train museums, bowling and EAA AirVenture events. Gene bowled at Mapleway Bowl in Oconomowoc for over thirty years, and didn't miss an AirVenture event for more than twenty years.
Most of all, Gene enjoyed working. He worked with his father at an early age in the sawmill business. He later worked at Sussex Lumber in Sussex, WI, for over fifty years. Gene was a master carpenter, and his work lives on today all over the state of Wisconsin, as well as in Tennessee and in Georgia through projects Gene worked on for his children.
Gene graduated from Waukesha High School, then served in the United States Army from 1955 - 1963.
Gene is survived by his wife Carol, daughter Victoria, son James, son Todd, daughter Tina, son Trevor, son Troy, daughter Tracey, and several grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews, and a sister Janice.
Gene was predeceased by his father Henry, mother Alma, sister Joyce and previous wives Jocelyn and Phyllis.
Visitation will be held Friday, November 8, 2024, at Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home 121 S. Cross St. Oconomowoc from 10:30 am until noon. Interment at Glenview Memorial Gardens will follow.
