Evelyn J. Majeskie Obituary

Evelyn "Evie" Joyce Majeskie (Hachtel), born on December 14, 1928, passed away peacefully at her home in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, on February 27, 2025.

Evie was the firstborn in her family and a constant caretaker of her 8 younger siblings on the family farm in Rome, WI. In 1951, she married Romie Majeskie, a construction foreman and farmer and together they built a loving home of 40 years until his passing in 1991. She served both St. Anskar's and St. Peter's Episcopal Churches through the annual Seder Dinner and Spaghetti Dinners. Evie spent 63 years on the same country road! She is survived by her siblings Joe Hachtel (Cindy), Davy Hachtel (Patricia), Patricia Cerny, and Ronnie Hachtel (Vicky) and was a devoted mother of three daughters, Wanda Fobian (Paul), Vicki Majeskie, and Dawn Schuessler (John), as well as foster sons. She was a cherished grandmother to Leslie Serro (Ted), Emily Trampetti (Mike), Ana Schuessler, Drew Schuessler, Alex Schuessler, and Julia Schuessler, and a proud great-grandmother to her "little man," Nash Serro.

Evie was a hardworking provider, she ensured that every meal was made with fresh ingredients from her own garden. Her beautiful lilies were a testament to her green thumb and all of her years with animals gave her a complete understanding of the circle of life—including keeping the farm free of stray tomcats! She encouraged her children to develop new skills, as long as they cleaned up afterward. An active 4-H leader when her children were young, she attended many county fairs over the years. With the birth of her grandchildren she rarely missed a concert, dance recital, ballet, track meet, horse show, basketball game, or baseball game and supervised college move in days.

Beyond her home, Evie touched many lives by caring for children from her community. She offered homemade snacks, helped with homework, and always lent a listening ear. She enjoyed taking them on walks to the railroad tracks and creek to look for crayfish, afternoons swimming at local lakes, and teaching them how to bake—relationships that lasted throughout her life.

Her kindness, dedicated involvement, and quick wit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Memorial service and celebration of her life will take place on May 10, 2025 at St. Anskar's Episcopal Church. More details will be forthcoming.

In lieu of flowers, a contribution to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital would support her passion for children.
