Cecile Lohaus Obituary
Cecile L. Lohaus passed away peacefully on February 14, 2025 at the age of 101. She was preceded in death by her husband Howard. She is survived by her son Howard (Paige) Lohaus and her daughter Bonnie (James) Goodson. Four granddaughters Christa, Heather, Lindsay, and Rebecca, 13 great grandchildren and 5 great, great grandchildren.
Cecile was recently honored by the City of Oconomowoc as part of their 150 year anniversary activities. She was identified as the oldest living person they had located still residing in the city. She, family members, and friends enjoyed a luncheon at The Depot; one of her favorite restaurants in the area to celebrate the event.
She was employed by Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital for 35 years as the head of the obstetrical department. It is estimated 18, 000 babies were born under her watch. With her assistance, the hospital was one of the first to begin the concept of birthing rooms allowing family to be present during the birth. She enjoyed working with her "wonderful nursing staff" many of whom she maintained contact with after retirement. She spent many years volunteering in medical records for Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital Home Health Department and Shorehaven Residential Center after her retirement.
Cecile was an active member of Dr. Martin Luther Church since 1952 and the Oconomowoc Women's Club since 1989. She enjoyed arts, crafts, quilting, knitting, sewing, and creating porcelain dolls; receiving many awards for her handiwork. She will be missed by her family and friends.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Waukesha Humane Animal Welfare Society or Wounded Warrior Project.
Memorial visitation will be held Saturday, March 8, 2025 at Dr. Martin Luther Church 325 S. Main St. Oconomowoc from 10:30am until time of service at 11:30am. Following the service there will be a private family luncheon in the church hall. Private inurnment Glenview Memorial Gardens in Ixonia.
