He was predeceased by: his parents, Edwin Raether and Ella Raether (Bauch); his former wives, Gertrude Laabs and Gertrude Raether; his wife Rosella Raether; his close friend Janet Grunewald; his siblings, Elmer, Norman Raether and Edna Schwanke (Raether); and his grandchildren, Adam Michael Raether and Christina Raether.
He is survived by: his children, Allan Raether (Patricia) of Manitowoc, Louis Raether (Connie) of Manitowoc and Lori Olson (Todd) of Manitowoc; and his sisters-in-law, Audrey Laabs and Emily Luebke. He is also survived by six grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; five stepchildren; eight step grandchildren; three step great grandchildren.
