With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Marlene Bartels (New Richmond, Wisconsin), who passed away on December 11, 2020. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her husband Ted; and her siblings, Russell and Donna. She is survived by: her siblings, Russel, Darlene Folstad (Bud) and Jerry Stearns (Marilyn); and her children, Todd Bartels (Robin), Terry Bartels, Tracy Preece (Mike) and Kenna Swiggum (Lance). She is also survived by her 12 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Alzheimer's Disease claimed large segments of her memory and her ability to speak more than a few words at a time, but not her sense of humor.

“Marlene did such a wonderful job of caring for my two younger sons when I moved to New Richmond in 1986. At the time, I was teaching. If a child was ill, she isolated him and then contacted me to assure me that my child would be fine until the school day ended. She and Ted loved all the daycare children, I felt.
