He was predeceased by: his parents, John Shafer and Rose Ann Shafer (Lindeman); his daughter Lori Casey; his daughter-in-law Dawn Marie Shafer; his brother Irvin Shafer (Patricia); his stepsisters, Mary Organ (Max) and Grace Mitchell (Ray); and his parents-in-law, Walter and Frances Strese.
He is survived by: his wife Dawn Shafer; his children, Randy Shafer, Marlin Shafer and Linda Hahn; his grandchildren, Matthew Shafer (Ally), Jacob Shafer, Rebecca Hahn, Alex Hahn, Trisha Casey (Kelly Swanson) and Tyler Casey; and his great grandchild Kaden Swanson. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
