He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Thern and Lorraine Thern (Hidde); his wife Dorothy (Bruss); his sister Joann; his brother-in-law Harold Dreier; his brother Kenneth; his sister-in-law Peg Thern; his sister Kathleen Manske; and his brother-in-law Don Wegner.
He is survived by: his children, Timothy Thern (Cherri) of New London, Kari Niemuth (Mark) of New London, Andrew Thern (Lindsey Sanders) of New London and Michelle Huebner (Nick) of New London; his grandchildren, Tia Thern (Nick Jaeger), Danielle Cole (Josh Storar), Tayler Cole (Katie Longsine), Ryan Niemuth (Sarah Volhard), Amy Niemuth, Kaylyn and Evan Huebner; and his sister Marlene Wegner of Appleton. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
