He was predeceased by: his parents, Edwin Stern and Ella Stern (Delzer); his wife Cathryn "Kate" McNichols; his son-in-law Tom Schubert; his sisters, Evelyn Burton, Ethel Westphal, Lorraine Johnson and Lucy Ebert; and his half-brother Gordon Stern.
He is survived by: his children, Michael Stern (Margaret) and Mary Schubert; his grandchildren, Ted Schubert, Susie Lamers (Scott), Matt Stern and Christine Brown; his great grandchildren, Christopher, Katie Lamers, Thomas, Paige, Noah Schubert and Liliana Brown; and his half-siblings, Lloyd Stern and Marjorie Uratani. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
