He was predeceased by: his parents, Benjamin Schmidt and Gertrude Schmidt (Huntley). He is survived by: his wife Margarete Laugwitz (Marion); his children, Susan Wolfe (Tom), Cheryl Williams (Jeff) and Bruce Schmidt (Linda); his grandchildren, Tracee Hildreth, Melissa Schmidt, Taylor Williams, David Lemke and Justin Schmidt; his siblings, Carol Schmidt and Harlan; his sister-in-law Arlene Schmidt; and his sister Joyce Schmidt. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
